Edge Limited versus Edge Sport
As far as pricing is concerned, there is just a little difference between the Ford Edge Limited and the Edge Sport. New Edge Limiteds start off at $34,460, while a Sport will most likely come with a minimum cost of $36,460. With five year financing, a brand new Edge Sport will cost around $40 more per month.
The EPA estimated fuel economy for 2011 Edge Limiteds is listed to be 19/27 MPG City/Hwy. A 2011 Edge Sport gets gas mileage which is advertised at 18/25 mpg. The disparity here is fairly negligible. Drivers who spend most of their time on the highway may be slightly more inclined to select a Limited.
One of the primary variances between the two models is in the engine. Edge Limited has a 3.5-liter V6 and Sports come equipped with a slightly larger 3.7-liter V6. The 3.5-liter Edge produces 285 and 3.7-liters account for 305 horsepower. This is going to create a slight acceleration and towing advantage in favor of Edge Sport. Drivers will have to determine for themselves if the larger engine is a desirable feature.
There is a notable difference that concerns the vehicles’ transmissions as well. In 2011, Ford Edge has three types of available transmissions. Edge Limited comes with the middle tier option, which is a six-speed SelectShift automatic version. Sports have the top-of-the-line six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle activation.
